A simple – in the moment – way to work with emotions that feel overwhelming :

Place your hand on your heart

Take 3 deep belly breaths – sighing on the out breath

Create a dialogue with the emotion, letting it know that you see it, feel it, accept it and are safe to allow it to pass on through.

“Hey anxiety, I hear you! I can really feel that you are wanting my attention – and I am sorry if I have not given it to you before. I accept you openheartedly, you are part of me. I am safe to now allow you to process to allow you to flow on through.”

Remember this emotion – whatever it is – has been within you for a while, so it make take time for it to trust that it can pass on through safety – your subconscious is programmed to jump in and protect you; and may well block the flow. But the more you persist with this practice, the subconscious will start to accept that you are really are safe – and one day, when the time is right, this emotion will fully process and pass through.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

This technique works directly with the subconscious program as well as the energy showing up in the moment – be it an emotion, belief or physical ache or pain.

The tapping moves the energy and the talking tells the subconscious that you are safe to process it.
